Prayer Breakfast May Draw Crowd Of 500
The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast has been a standing tradition for many years; it allows local elected officials and community leaders to come together on this one day to pray and give thanks for the many blessings received.
Local churches and community leaders have been preparing and organizing this event which could bring over 500 individuals together Thursday, May 3. This breakfast was purposely planned on the National Day of Prayer, which has been a part of this country’s heritage since the first one was declared by the Continental Congress in 1775.
Elizabeth Ames Jones, chairman of the Railroad Commission of Texas, has been extended an invitation by Mayor Beto Salinas to serve as keynote speaker. Invitations also have been extended to Mayors of Alton, Palmview, Palmhurst, Granjeno, La Joya, Sullivan and Penitas.
This year’s breakfast will be hosted outdoors in front of the Mission Police Department at 1200 E. 8th St. It will begin with a breakfast buffet at 6:30 a.m. and a sunrise program at 7 a.m. It is being coordinated by the City of Mission, the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce and several local churches.
The Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast is being sponsored by Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation, Hunt Valley Development, Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, Melden & Hunt, Inc., Mission Regional Medical Center, and Mayor Salinas.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for only $5 per person at the City of Mission, Mission Chamber of Commerce, World Center Church, El Divino Redentor, El Mesias United Methodist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Mission First United Methodist Church, North Mission Church of Christ, Iglesia del Pueblo and River of Life Church.
