Mission CISD salutes the top students
The Mission CISD board of trustees recently hosted its annual Mission Academic Excellence Award Banquet. This banquet and award honors the top five percent of the graduating classes from Mission High School and Veterans Memorial High School. Each student is recognized individually by the members of the board of trustees.
In addition to honoring the top seniors, each student honoree invites an educator who has been important in their lives to honor as well.
The Mission Academic Excellence Award recipients from Mission High School are: Roberto Barbosa Jr., Topacio Buentello, Krystal Gallegos, Roxanna M. Garcia, Ariatna Garza, Joanna Gonzalez, Jorge A. Hernandez Jr., Maria Guadalupe Hinojosa, Alisa Longoria, Monica Ann Lopez, Cassandra Martinez, Amanda C. Mendoza, Sergio Mendoza, Luz Maria Ramirez, Ryan Ramirez, Claudia Reyna, Gloria Rodriguez, Victoria Rojas, Sonya M. Saenz, Lilia Sanchez, Abigail Tijerina, Jose A. Torres, Joshua Womack.
The Mission Academic Excellence Award recipients from Veterans Memorial High School are: Andrea Raquenel Austin, Lorette Tara Blagg, Laura Lisa Diaz, Daniel Lee Flores, Rosalinda Flores, Linda Lydia Garcia, Lora Alyssa Gonzalez, Alyssa Nicole Gutierrez, Ross Allan Hines, Pedro Nicholas Lopez, Erik Martinez, Mariana Martinez, Ryan Anthony Reyna, Sandra Rios-Gonzalez, Miguel Rodriguez, Elizabeth Cay Stewart, Hector Valadez, Kolby Warren.
The guest speaker for the event was G. Javier Cavazos, D.P.M. Cavazos is a Mission High School graduate who is now in private practice. He has opened three branches of the RGV Footcare Clinic.
