LJHS students place at state and regionals

The La Joya High School UIL team recently placed at the regional and state levels, with one team and two students placing at the state level individually.

At the state division, Roel Cantu won second and fourth place in the Number Sense and Calculator competitions, respectively. Juan Mireles placed second in the Social Studies competition. The Social Studies team of Juan Mireles, Emmanuel Alanis, Juan Solis and Eric Flores placed first at the regional level and advanced to place second at state.

At the regional level the Number Sense team, consisting of Raul Guajardo, Ricky Hernandez, Roel Cantu, Alex Salinas and Jesus Montañez, placed first The Mathematics team of Roel Cantu, Diana Garcia and Alex Salinas placed second. The CX Debate team of Olivero Flores and Daniel Ramos placed second at regionals.

The Current Issues and Events team of Juan Mireles, Nancy Cardenas, Michelle Solis and Conny Cavazos, also placed second. The Calculator Applications team of Juan Mendiola, Roel Cantu and Andres Gonzalez, placed second as well. The Computer Science team of Eliel Cantu, Paola Garza, Yajaira Marmolejo, Carlyssa Villarreal and alternate Martín Rodriguez, placed first.
