Notice of Tax Revenue Increase

The City of La Joya conducted a public hearing on September 12, 2013 and will conduct a second public hearing on September 19, 2013 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of the City of La Joya from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 7.11 percent. The total tax revenue proposed to be raised last year at last year’s tax rate of $0.5678 for each $100 of taxable value was $630,392. The total tax revenue proposed to be raised this year at the proposed tax rate of $0.5678 for each $100 of taxable value, excluding tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year, is $673,838. The total tax revenue proposed to be raised this year at the proposed tax rate of $0.5678 for each $100 of taxable value, including tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year, is $683,807. The City Council of City of La Joya is scheduled to vote on the tax rate that will result in that tax increase at a public meeting to be held on September 26, 2013 at City Hall, 101 North Leo Avenue, La Joya, TX at 6:00 PM.

The City of Penitas conducted public hearings on September 4, 2013 and September 10, 2013 on a proposal to increase the total tax revenues of the City of Penitas from properties on the tax roll in the preceding year by 9.97 percent. The total tax revenue proposed to be raised last year at last year’s tax rate of $0.4100 for each $100 of taxable value was $646,579. The total tax revenue proposed to be raised this year at the proposed tax rate of $0.4345 for each $100 of taxable value, excluding tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year, is $665,611. The total tax revenue proposed to be raised this year at the proposed tax rate of $0.4345 for each $100 of taxable value, including tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the tax roll this year, is $787,833. The City Council of City of Penitas is scheduled to vote on the tax rate that will result in that tax increase at a public meeting to be held on September 24, 2013 at Temporary Penitas Public Library Building located at 1320 S Main ST, Penitas Texas at 6:00 PM.
