NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM AND PUBLIC HEARING
The City of Mission will conduct public hearings to solicit comments from interested residents and agencies for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. Comments received will be considered for preparation of the City of Mission’s Action Plan FY 2012/2013. Interested parties are encouraged to attend and make their views known.
We are also accepting funding request forms for CDBG funds for Fiscal Year 2012 for the period beginning October 1, 2012 through September 30, 2013 from public service agencies, non-profit and interested governmental agencies. Agencies with programs specifically designed to meet the CDBG Program objectives are encouraged to pick-up an application at the Community Developmenet Department, 1201 E. 8th Street, Mission, Texas or download from website, www.missiontexas.us. The applications are due in our office by 5:00 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2012.

The primary objectives of the CDBG Program are the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment while expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low and moderate income. CDBG funds may be used to finance any activity that accomplishes one of hte following national objectives.
1. Principally benefits low and moderate income persons.
2. Aids in the prevention or elimination of slum and blighted areas.
3. Meets a need having a particular agency.
The City is expecting to receive notification of the proposed fiscal year 2012 CDBG allocation, which is anticipated to be $860,882. These funds can be utilized for different activities benefiting low/moderate income areas.
Accommodations for handicapped individuals shall be provided upon request. Arrangements can also be made for Spanish translation. Please notify the department at least three days in advance of meeting.
