ORDINANCE NO. 3736
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MISSION, TEXAS DEDICATING THE 1000 TO THE 1100 BLOCK OF EAST 7TH STREET IN REMEMBRANCE OF U.S. ARMY CORPORAL FRANCISCO QUINTANILLA JR.
WHEREAS, Francisco Quintanilla Jr. served the citizens of the United States and the City of Mission, Texas in the capacity of a U.S. Army Corporal in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971;
WHEREAS, Corporal Francisco Quintanilla Jr. was shot and killed by a sniper while on patrol in Vietnam on February 27, 1971.
WHEREAS, Corporal Francisco Quintanilla Jr. been honored at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Corporal Francisco Quintanilla Jr. was awarded the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Expert Badge for Automatic Rifle Bar, the Bronze Star Medal with First Oak Leaf Cluster for Heroism, the Air Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Purple Heart.
WHEREAS, the City of Mission City Council wishes to honor Corporal Francisco Quintanilla Jr. by dedicating the 1000 to the 1100 Block East 7th Street in his memory.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Mission that the 1000 to the 1100 Block of East 7th Street be dedicated as Corporal Francisco Quintanilla Jr. Avenue in remembrance of U.S. Army Corporal Francisco Quintanilla Jr.
