Randy Rogers Band performing tonight

ENT_RRB-Ashot2010The Randy Rogers Band (RRB) will make a stop in Mission at Las Palmas Race Park tonight at 7 p.m. singing songs from their latest album, Burning the Day. The album hit stores in August and was the second most downloaded album on iTunes (all genres) just under pop superstar Katy Perry. The album was also No. 2 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. The lead single, “Too Late for Goodbye,” was the most added at radio its first week just behind country super-group Lady Antebellum.

STC hosts renowned Mexican group Huehuetl

ENT_huehuetlSouth Texas College’s Mexican American Studies Program, in partnership with the college’s Student Activities Department and Division of Library Services, invites the public to a musical presentation by renowned Mexican group Huehuetl.

The musical presentation will take place Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m. at STC’s Starr County Campus Amphitheater located at 142 FM 3167 in Rio Grande City. Admission is free and open to the public. The presentation will be in Spanish.

Mariachi Clown show coming to McAllen

ENT_Mariachi-ClownsThe McAllen Chamber of Commerce and Casa Guanajuato proudly present “Mariachi Clown,” an unusual and entertaining experience for the whole family. This is a living statues show based on three Mariachi players that on their intent to perform Mexican music end up making a series of scenic games and humorous improvisations.

“Mariachi players are painted in green, white and red respectively bringing the colors of the Mexican flag,” said Luis Cantu, vice president of Inter American Relations for the Chamber. “They wear big moustaches and even their instruments are painted in the same color.”

Brownsville will attempt to set world record

City-of-Brownsville-logoBROWNSVILLE – The City of Brownsville has a chance to be known worldwide for its record-breaking Latin rhythm. An attempt to break a Guinness World Records ™ for the Largest Zumba Class is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to noon April 30 at the Brownsville Sports Park.

Local Valley residents are invited to come out for some dancing, a nice workout and lots of fun — all while trying to break a world record. Gates will open at 7:30 a.m. with festivities, giveaways and sponsored booths starting at 9 a.m.

UTPA’s feature film ‘The Red Queen’ achieves distribution deal
