McALLEN — The South Texas Rolleristas, the Rio Grande Valley’s first and original flat track derby league, has rescheduled their kick off of their 2012 season for Saturday, March 3. The rumble begins at the De Leon Middle School in-line hockey rink, 4201 N. 29th St. Doors open at 6 p.m., the game begins at 7 p.m.
Hitting the rink in this season opening bout will be Fallout Brigade and the Nerdcore Harlots; both teams bring some returning talent along with some new faces making their skating debuts. The Rolleristas will be holding bouts at new venues throughout the Rio Grande Valley.
Suicide seating will be available for a premium price again, allowing fans to get up close and personal with their favorite Rolleristas. Tickets are available from any Rolleristas skater. Adults are $5 in advance, $8 at the door and $1 for children under 10.
If you had already purchased tickets for the original date, Feb. 11, they will still be accepted for the rescheduled date. If you ahven't bought tickets to the bout, there are still some available.
The South Texas Rolleristas are looking to expand their roster. Women of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to join. No experience is required and all skating levels are welcome. For more information on the team or for tickets, call Courtney Wilson at 956-244-0775.
