BROWNSVILLE – The City of Brownsville has a chance to be known worldwide for its record-breaking Latin rhythm. An attempt to break a Guinness World Records ™ for the Largest Zumba Class is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m. to noon April 30 at the Brownsville Sports Park.

Local Valley residents are invited to come out for some dancing, a nice workout and lots of fun — all while trying to break a world record. Gates will open at 7:30 a.m. with festivities, giveaways and sponsored booths starting at 9 a.m.

The 2008 Pan American Summer Television (P.A.S.T.) project, “The Red Queen,” produced at The University of Texas-Pan American, has been recently accepted for worldwide distribution through Echelon Studios, a Los Angeles based production and distribution company.

If you’re dreaming of buying a new home or planning to build your dream home, you can find everything you need at the 21st Annual RGV Home and Garden Show. This year’s event will be held at the McAllen Convention Center, 700 Convention Center Blvd., April 1–3. The show will be open Friday, April 1, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, April 2, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, April 3, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The 2011 Texas Onion Fest is set for the March 26 at the Weslaco City Park, located at 300 N. Airport Drive. Food, entertainment, recipe contests, cooking demonstrations and much more is on slate, giving guests a full day of fun.
