Andrea Ridout, also known as Eco Andy and Ask Andrea, is a veteran of home improvement and eco‐friendly radio and TV. She is currently the co-host and field reporter on Dig In, a new TV show in Dallas/Ft. Worth with gardening guru, Neil Sperry. She is an oft‐consulted expert on programs such as Fox 4’s Good Day in North Texas, Designing Texas with Jocelyn White, Martha Stewart Radio and Daybreak USA. She was also the cast expert on Tools and Techniques on the DIY Network, showcasing Cool Tools with host David Thiel. Andrea has also hosted and co-hosted numerous radio shows in Texas and nationally including Ask Andrea, Mother Earth News Radio, The Energy Show and energizeGreen.
Andrea’s articles, expertise and product critiques have been in scores of magazines and newspapers including Reader’s Digest, Women’s Day, Country Home and Old House Interiors - as well as in her own how-to book, If I Had a Hammer, published by Harper Collins. The Washington Post calls her “Little Miss Fix‐Up”.
Andrea doesn’t know a stranger and her friends include ranchers and farmers, writers and artists, TV and radio hosts plus a bevy of other fascinating folks. A Texas Master Naturalist, Andrea often spends her spare time volunteering at community gardens or in animal rehab. When not hanging out with her grown children in Dallas, she can be found in the country with her Simmental lap‐cows, bantam Orpington chickens and spunky Scotty dog, Reilly.
Andrea will be giving several talks at this weekend’s event on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and 2 and 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m. She will be clucking about backyard chickens – how to buy them, house them and enjoy them. She'll have lots of goodies for everyone including product samples and mini versions of Mother Earth News magazine.
Mr. Barnes further stated, “Each year the RGV Home and Garden Show features spectacular giveaways; this year is no different. Visitors to the show can register to win door prizes given away by our generous exhibitors throughout the show, including a 42’ flat screen TV, courtesy of Time Warner Cable. There is something here for everyone so, bring the whole family out for a good time and be sure to register to win the new Apple iPad that we are giving away on Sunday.
