The staff at Speer Memorial Library is planning their first 5K Thanksgiving Walk/Run to combat hunger. It’s planned for Saturday, Nov. 23, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Mission Bike and Hike Trail on Conway south of Expressway 83.
“This sporty spirit builder is an opportunity to work up your appetite, share your blessings with the community and contribute to good cause,” said Robert L. Rivera, Speer Library Community Service Coordinator.
Early registration begins runs through Nov. 22 at the library during regular hours. Late registrations will be accepted at the trail between 8 and 8:45a.m. Participants who bring 10 nonperishable canned food items and a $5 entry fee will receive a commemorative T-shirt. For the regular entry fee of $10, a T-shirt can be purchased for $5.
For sponsorship forms (registration/pledge forms) or more information contact Lisa Rivera, Children’s Librarian, at 580-8753. The library is located at 12th and Kika De La Garza in Mission.
