The First Presbyterian Church of Mission hosts vocalist Yumi Castro in a concert this Sunday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m. in the church’s sanctuary located at 1102 Ash. The concert is open to the public and free of charge as a community service to Mission and the surrounding area.

“Yumi Castro has a voice that you will want to hear!” stated Pat Hudsonpillar, director of music and worship at the church.

A 13 year-old and eighth grader at the South Texas Preparatory Academy in Edinburg, she began singing in her church children’s choir at age two and began her solo career at age nine. She has sung with the South Texas Lyric Opera, at the Road Runner baseball games, many weddings and funerals, and appears weekly on the 3ABN TV broadcasts.

According to Hudsonpillar, a love offering will be taken at the concert to help Yumi finish her first CD, which she stated that Yumi hopes will enable her to reach more people with her message of love for the Lord.
