MISSION — Two men were arrested Wednesday morning after police say they tried to force their way into someone’s home on the 1200 block of First Street.
Officials said a female resident called 9-1-1 after a man came to the door of her house and tried to force himself inside. When she answered, she saw the suspect with a shotgun and tried to keep him from coming into the house. During the struggle, the shotgun opened up, extracting shotgun shells from the chamber, said Mission police.
After not being able to gain access into the house, the suspects left the residence in a black Chevy Impala. The residents gave a full description of the suspects as well as the vehicle.
It didn’t take long for police in the area to recognize the described vehicle pulling into an apartment complex parking lot off of Highland and Tom Landry streets, authorities said. Officers pulled the vehicle over and arrested the two men who matched the descriptions given by the residents.
The two men, in their mid 20s, are now in custody. Police plan to charge them with attempted aggravated robbery. At least one of them is a Mission resident and lived at the apartment complex.
Police found the shotgun and ammunition in the vehicle. As of Wednesday afternoon, a search warrant was being issued for the apartment of one of the suspects. No motive for the attempted home invasion has been found. The case is still under investigation.
