Mission Regional Medical Center (MRMC) was presented with a $55,000 donation from the hospital’s volunteer arm, the MRMC Auxiliary. The contribution was made during the annual Auxiliary board installation luncheon held April 9 at The Club at Cimarron in Mission. The donation has been designated for various service lines.
Russ Winters, incoming MRMC Auxiliary board president presented the donation to Javier Iruegas, CEO.
“Monies donated are part of the overall support our volunteers provide,” said Winters. "We also donate our time to help provide the best patient experience."
Other incoming officers include Jose E. Flores, senior vice-president; Oma Bush, vice president of membership; Rose Forquer, recording secretary; Rosa Nea Garza, corresponding secretary; Annemarie Becker, treasurer;Barbara Goff, assistant treasurer; and Bill Zorr, parliamentarian.
Approximately 100 volunteers donate their time each year, amounting to 28,000 hours in volunteer service. Individuals such as Nancy Martinez and Annemarie Becker contributed 1,000 hours and 900 hours respectively.
Monies donated are the proceeds from the MRMC gift shop staffed by Auxiliary members. In order to generate more sales, the gift shop holds several bake sales, jewelry sales, book fairs, and other fundraisers throughout the year.
