Corpus man indicted for bomb threats to Islamic Center in Tennessee

WASHINGTON D.C. — A federal grand jury indicted a Corpus Christi man June 21 for leaving a threatening, explicative-ridden voice message saying, among other things, that, “on September 11, 2011, there’s going to be a bomb in the building.

Javier Alan Correa, 24, was charged with violating the civil rights of members of a Murfreesboro, Tenn. Mosque. He is charged in the Middle District of Tennessee with one count of intentionally obstructing by threat of force the free exercise of religious beliefs and one count of using an instrument of interstate commerce to communicate a threat to destroy a building by means of an explosive device. Correa faces a maximum penalty of 20 years for count one and 10 years for count two as well as a fine of up to $250,000 for each offense.

According to the indictment, he made the call on September 5, 2011.
