20110429_Dee_Tunseth_UVAL_CAB_0004Dee Tunseth presents “Capturing the Ilussion of Light in Watercolor,” the latest in a series of courses offered at the Upper Valley Art League, 921 E. 12th, Mission. The class will be held at the UVAL facility on Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon: June 24 and July 8, 15 and 22.

Tunseth came to the Rio Grande Valley from Alaska where she spent most of her life teaching. She began her art career six years ago, and her works are representational, filled with light and color. She has received many awards and recognitions. While living in Alaska, she focused on snowscapes and landscapes and now focuses her work on portraits and the beauty of Texas.

Tunseth holds a signature membership in the Alaska Watercolor Society and is a member of the Texas Watercolor Society, the Hidalgo County Watercolor Society and UVAL. Her work, “Desert Gem,’ was recently selected for inclusion in the Texas Watercolor Society’s 62nd Annual Juried Show and Exhibition. It will be on display at the San Antonio Art League and Museum during the month of June.

The watercolor classes will include several small projects and exercises with one complete painting, emphasizing color and value in creating light. Class members should have some watercolor experience.

Course cost is $100; supplies are not included. For a supply list or additional information, call UVAL at 583-2787 or Tunseth at 424-6050 or email
