The Upper Valley Art League is hosting a color theory class, “Making Color Work for You,” with Linda Jean as the instructor. The four-week course will be held Saturday afternoons, 1-4 p.m. beginning August 27 at the UVAL facility in the Kika de la Garza Fine Arts Center, 921 E. 12th Street, Mission. Cost will be $120.
Students are to bring all of their oil paints, including paints with same color name but different brand names. The course will cover the differences in pigment, including variations in transparency or opaqueness. Students will paint several color charts and sketches to refine color-mixing skills, to develop an eye for hue and to discover how to create the value needed. Through the process, the instructor will share the three common culpritswhen mixing color turns out wrong.
For more information or to register for the class, call 279-5075.
