The Edinburg World Birding Center is holding the Fall season’s Community Garden Orientation Class on Tuesday, Aug. 30, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.  EWBC is located at 714 S. Raul Longoria Rd. in Edinburg.

Participants will learn the history of the community garden, its purpose, information and guidelines for gardening organically, along with an introduction to the Community Garden facilities, materials, and supplies.  Gardeners will also receive free start-up plants for their beds!

The class is free for new gardeners who have rented a bed for the Fall or year-long season.  To become a community gardener, call EWBC at 381-9922 or go to www.edinburgwbc.com to download an application.

Adult garden beds are available for $35 a season or $50 for the year, and include the raised beds, a vertical garden, use of water, mulch, compost, garden tools and supplies, an Edinburg Community Garden T-shirt, and discounts on garden and plant classes at EWBC.  Children’s gardening beds are also available, along with an adult rental, for $5 for the season or $10 for the year.
