Bill Cosby: On top of his game

20120330_BillCosbyHe’s become an icon.  Yet he’s always relevant.  And his audience appeal spans audiences of all ages for five decades.  It’s Bill Cosby live at the State Farm Arena in Hidalgo on Thursday, April 13, at 8 p.m.  Doors open at 7 p.m. Part of the Rio Grande Valley Broadway Series performance line-up, Cosby’s comedy act gives Valley audiences a moment with the master to be up close and personal.

As a kid from the projects in Philadelphia, Cosby got his roots in the highs and lows of human nature so often found in his comedy routine.  His “stand-up” routine may be a little more sitting as the years pass, but he’s still relatable and current to the broad spectrum of humanity—and just as entertaining.

His original act trailed into eight gold records, five platinum, and five Grammy awards for his best-selling comedy albums. He was the first African-American to co-star in a dramatic series with the TV show “I Spy” when he won three Emmy awards.  And, his 1980s television sitcom, “The Cosby Show,” became a staple to viewing audiences, and his book, “Fatherhood,” became a best seller.  All are testament to his appeal.

Single tickets are now on sale ranging from $42 to $57 per person.  For tickets, call the Arena at 800-745-3000, or go online to or
