20120330_MissionPoliceDeptMISSION — Police are asking for help with a hit-and-run along U.S. Expressway 83 that left a man dead on March 23.

Jesus Garcia died less than three hours after police said he was hit by a black or dark blue flare side Ford F-150.

An eyewitness told police the driver briefly stopped before leaving the scene. The accident happened near Los Ebanos Road and Expressway 83.

A license plate from the vehicle was left behind. The license plate numbers are 7WH 3440 and are from Tamaulipas, Mexico.

Officials said the vehicle has not been seen crossing back into Mexico and should have front-end damage.

Anyone with information is asked to call Mission Crime Stoppers at 956-581-TIPS (8477).
