MISSION — Mission Regional Medical Center’s (MRMC) Joint Replacement Institute has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval for hip and knee replacement surgery by demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission’s national standards for health care quality and safety, the hospital announced this week.
In earning the Goal Seal of Approval, MRMC becomes the first and only hospital in Hidalgo County with such a distinction.
“With this additional Joint Commission Certification, we continue demonstrating the significant investment in programs and services we offer our community. The Joint Commission Gold Seal provides us with the proven framework to take our organization to the next level and helps create a culture of excellence,” said Javier Iruegas, CEO, MRMC. “Achieving The Joint Commission Certification in hip and knee replacement, is a major step toward raising the bar in our region for clinical excellence and continually improving the care we provide.”
MRMC officials said the institute underwent a rigorous on-site survey on April 26. A team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluated the hospital for compliance with hip and knee replacement standards of care specific to the needs of patients and families, including infection prevention and control, leadership and medication management.
"In achieving Joint Commission Certification, Mission Regional Medical Center has demonstrated its commitment to the highest level of care for its patients with hip and knee replacement," says Jean Range, executive director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, The Joint Commission. “Certification is a voluntary process and I commend Mission Regional Medical Center for successfully undertaking this challenge to elevate its standard of care and instill confidence in the community it serves.”blog comments powered by Disqus
