MISSION — One of the biggest classic car shows in the Rio Grande Valley, the eighth annual Mission Classic Car Show, comes to Mission Sports Park in The Grove at Sharyland Plantation on Saturday. Admission is free to the public.
Since it began in 2003, the show has grown to be one of the largest in South Texas offering car aficionados a glimpse at classic vehicles from 1976 and older. Vehicles that are in the show are originals or restored to their original condition and specifications.
The show will feature muscle cars, street rods, hot rods, muscle cars and specialty cars. Guests will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite at the show.
While the show opens at 9 a.m., vehicles are not all in place until about 11 a.m. All cars must be in place for judging by noon. The show continues until 5 p.m., with the winners to be announced at 4:30 p.m. Over $5,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded, attracting many entries by car collectors and enthusiasts.
Vendors will offer food, beverages, auto accessories and other items.
The Groves at Sharyland is located at 3930 Plantation Grove Blvd., 2.2 miles south of Expressway 83 on Shary Road.
