Mission Consolidated Independent School District (MCISD) will start their first school day as a regular/full day of school for all students, except for pre-k students who are on a half-day program. Elementary school begins at 7:40 a.m. and will release students at 3:15 p.m. Junior high schools begin at 8:15 a.m. and release students at 4 p.m. The first bell at high schools will ring at 8 a.m. High Schools let out at 3:59 p.m.
All elementary schools will hold new student registration from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. August 8 and 9. MCISD considers August 27 an instructional day at its schools and is not intended for student registration. School officials strongly advise parents to use the August 8 to 9 registration period for new students and any campus specific events held prior to the first day of schools. Campuses will only have limited registration on the first day of school, August 27.
Junior High Schools
Sixth grade students will register August 14 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. for last names A though L, and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. for last names M through Z. Seventh grade students will register August 15 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. for last names A through L, and 1:30 to 4 p.m. for last names M through Z. Eighth grade students will register August 16 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. for last names A through L, and from 1:30 to 4 p.m. for last names M through Z. Students new to the district will register on August 17 from 8:30 to 11 a.m.
Mission High School
Athletics, including football, band, cheerleaders and high-flyers will register August 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. Seniors and juniors will register August 7 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Sophomores will register August 8 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Freshmen will register August 9 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1:30 to 3 p.m. Parents must accompany freshmen for registration. Proper dress and appearance will be required. Parking permits will cost $5 with a driver’s license and proof of insurance required.
Veterans Memorial High School
Seniors will register on August 14 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Juniors will register August 15 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Sophomores will register August 16 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Freshman will register August 17 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and 1 to3 p.m. Students new to the district will register on the day pertaining to their grade level. Please follow the district dress code for registration. Summer Freshmen Camp will be held on August 20 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the auditorium.
Mission Collegiate High School
The new Mission Collegiate High School will have its registration for the incoming freshmen. For last names A through L, registration will be held on August 8 and August 9 for last names M through Z. Registration will start at 8 a.m. and be held at Mission High School Library.
Students must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or family member older than 21 for registration through eighth grade.
Proper dress and appearance will be required of all secondary students for registration. Items requested for the registration of all students includes immunization records, verification of Social Security number and proof of residence within the district.
In addition to the items listed above, a birth certificate will be required to register for kindergarten if the student is new to the district. A birth certificate will also be required to register pre-kinder students. Pre-k will be offered at each elementary school as a half-day program for all who meet the age, residency and immunization requirements.
Students new to Mission Consolidated Independent School District must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Items requested for registration for new students — beyond those listed above — are up-to-date transcripts, test scores and records from the previous school.
Junior high schools charge $5 for identification cards. High schools will charge $5 for identification cards and $5 for parking permits. Proof of insurance is required for student parking permits.
