This new all-day event will offer the community and visitors the opportunity to participate in a variety of outdoor activities from a 5K run, 1K Family Fun Run, 35-mile bike race, kayak race, community bike ride, and a 9.19-mile mountain bike race, all in one location and in one day. Each race will conclude with an awards ceremony for each of the divisions.
The South Texas Outdoor Festival will kick off at 7 a.m. with a5K Run. This will be a time trial race, giving participants a chance to measure their performance against the clock. This race is expected to draw approximately 300 runners from a 250-plus mile radius. Following the 5K run will be a free 1K Family Fun Run. The 35-mile bike race will begin at 8:30 a.m., allowing bikers to go all out and test their cycling skills in this fun and competitive race.
The second family-oriented event scheduled on this day is the Community Bike Ride. This is a free non-race bike ride for the entire family and is open to cyclists of all ages to enjoy the scenery and climate of the Rio Grande Valley.
