Jim Brunson, publisher of the Progress Times and Winter Texan Times, today announced the launch of a new publication, the Sharyland Times. The new weekly newspaper will serve local residents of Mission and McAllen with a special emphasis on news affecting residents of the Sharyland area.

As of today, the first edition of the Sharyland Times newspaper is now circulated at over 100 newsstand locations set up at local businesses in addition to several thousand delivered directly to homes in the Sharyland area.

“We have seen a growing need and interest in better local news coverage of events, activities and local government news as it affects this unique area of the Valley,” said Brunson. “This is a need we can fill very effectively, as this product will complement the coverage we already provide through the Progress Times.”

“This addition to our family of newspapers will be of tremendous benefit to our advertisers, as well,” Brunson added. “Our advertisers in the Progress Times will benefit from the thousands or readers added to our circulation through the Sharyland Times, as their ads will appear in both publications.”

The Progress Times has been the “hometown” newspaper serving Mission and Western Hidalgo County for 40 years. The Winter Texan Times is the Rio Grande Valley’s leading newspaper for Winter Texans. Its circulation reaches over 25,000 during the winter months, covering the RV and mobile home parks and other strategic locations from Mission to South Padre Island.

Brunson is the sole owner of Mission Publishing Company and Times Media Group, Inc. In addition to the Times publications, he is also the publisher of the Rio Grande Valley Visitors Guide and the Rio Grande Valley Mobile Home and RV Park Directory. Both publications are delivered across the Valley with a circulation of over 32,000.
