MISSION – Kops for Kids is now accepting new toys that will be donated to needy families just before Christmas. Collection boxes are now located at many area Winter Texan parks and schools.

Within the next week or two, McGruff, Santa Claus, and Mission Police officers will be visiting local stores collecting toys and giving residents a chance to take a picture with Santa.

The Kops for Kids Toy Drive assists low-income families in Mission and neighboring cities to the west including Sullivan City and Peñitas. Families have to fill out an application to receive the gifts.

Santa Claus will pass out the toys to children on Friday, December 21 at the Mission Police Department. Over 30 families were able to receive gifts for their children during last year’s event.
