Kimberly Garza, an eighth grader from Mission Jr. High School won this year’s annual district spelling bee for the third year in a row.
Jacob Flores, an eighth grader from K. White Jr. High School came in second place. Both of these students now advance to the 25th Annual Rio Grande Valley Regional Spelling Bee on March 2, at South Texas College in Weslaco.
The third place finisher in this year’s district spelling bee was Sofia Gonzalez, a fifth grade student from Castro Elementary School.
