20130522 MPD SISD-Burglar 0009MISSION – A 25-year-old man was arraigned Wednesday morning for the theft of cell phones, wallets, credit cards, backpacks and cash. The items were stolen from the Sharyland High School Field House beginning May 14 until just recently.

Arnel Gonzalez was charged with three counts of credit card abuse, one count of theft and one count of criminal trespass. He received a $255,000 bond for the charges. The theft charge alone was $100,000 because of two previous thefts and advanced to a state jail felony theft.

According to the affidavit, surveillance video from Sharyland High School shows the suspect driving in to the parking lot and walking into the field house. The suspect then talked to a student about the whereabouts of coaches. The video then shows the suspect walking out of the field house with a white backpack, getting into his vehicle and leaving, the document states.

Mission Police Corporal Manuel Casas said they also have video from an H-E-B showing the suspect using one of the stolen credit cards. The credit card was also used at perfume and jewelry stores.

Casas said Gonzalez knew how to get into the lockers without damaging them to gain access to the valuables.

Gonzalez was currently on probation for possession of marijuana and is now in county jail pending payment of bond. He requested a court appointed attorney.
