Construction of the new Bannworth Pool and remodeling of Mayberry Pool took years to complete, but now with warmer temperatures and the arrival of summer, the public will be able to cool off and enjoy swimming at both locations in addition to the Northside Pool located at Mission High School. All that remained in May for Bannworth Pool to be ready for the public was staffing. Now that the pool is fully staffed and operational, the public has a chance to enjoy the pool.
Public swimming and lap swimming times are available at each of the three City of Mission pools through August. At the new Bannworth Pool, located at Bannworth Park on Shary Road, public swimming is available Monday through Thursday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. and on Friday and Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. Bannworth Pool will be available for lap swimming Monday through Thursday from 5:30 to 8 a.m. and 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Lap swimming times are also available on Friday from 5:30 to 10 a.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 8 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 4 p.m. TAAF advanced swimming is held Monday through Thursday from 8 to 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m. and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Northside Pool has public swimming hours on Monday through Thursday from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 12 to 4 p.m. Lap swimming is available Monday through Thursday from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Fridays from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturdays, Northside is open for lap swimming from 8 to 11 a.m. and 12 to 4 p.m. Sunday hours are 12 to 4 p.m.
Two-week swim camps at Northside Pool started June 10 and continue through July 18. The camps will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon, Monday through Thursday. A combination camp of tennis and swimming will cost $65. Soccer and swim camps cost $30. The camps are for children age six to 11.
At Mayberry Pool, public swimming is available from 12 to 4 p.m., Monday through Sunday. TAAF beginner swimming is held Monday through Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Cost for children and seniors is $1, $1.50 for adults 18-54. Yearly and season passes are available.
All pools are also available for pool parties during certain times Friday through Sunday. Prices vary depending on length of party and number of guests.
Gus and Goldie classes will be held at Bannworth and Mayberry Pools, providing swim instructors to teach children how to swim. Classes will be held in two-week sessions, Monday through Thursday, and cost $25. The first class session started June 10. The final session will be held July 22 through August 1. There are six time slots each day, with morning and evening classes scheduled.
