20140213 GoMission with Downtown-Mission-Merchants-Assn JB 1949George Myers, president and CEO of the Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, has come up with a powerful new program to help local businesses, as well as consumers looking for great deals – the GoMission Discount Card.

Myers said he is drawing on his retail experience in managing mall shopping centers by taking the mall discount card concept and improving on it in several ways. One advantage of the GoMission Discount Card for shoppers is the large pool of retailers and other businesses participating in the program. The chamber has already enrolled nearly 60 businesses in GoMission and more are being added each week as the new program grows.

The Mission Chamber has incorporated the latest tools to make the program easy for shoppers to use and for merchants to update their special offers. Last month, the chamber launched the GoMission Card website at gomissioncard.com. The website is user friendly, making it easy to look up or print out all the deals being offered by the participating businesses. There are dozens of special offers available to GoMission Cardholders.

There is even a convenient mobile version for those with smart phones, so shoppers can easily look for the latest specials right on their phone. Smart phone users can also use the E-card right on their phone to obtain cardmember discounts.

How The Program Works

Any Mission Chamber of Commerce member can participate in the program for free. The main requirement, Myers says, is that they must offer an exclusive deal that shoppers cannot get elsewhere. While the merchants can change their offers at the beginning of any month, many participating businesses keep their offer going from month to month, often offering discounts of 15 percent to 50 percent. They are encouraged to offer a big discount to attract customers and create store traffic.

“This is the kind of program that drives traffic, increases sales and brings real value to having a chamber membership,” Myers added.

The GoMission Card program is free to consumers also. Area residents and Winter Texans can pick up their GoMission Card at the Mission Chamber of Commerce, and at the Progress Times and Winter Texan Times. GoMission Cardholders are also encouraged to register and provide an email address so they can receive a weekly newsletter from the chamber with details about the deals being offered along with the featured hot deal of the month.
