20140516 Andy-GarciaMission High School senior, Andy Garcia, is on a roll winning first at a national competition and as he bounces from one competition to another this year.

He just placed first in fundamental accounting at the 48th Annual Business Professionals of America (BPA) National Leadership Conference. Days later, he traveled to the DECA National Leadership Conference to compete in accounting and heads to the state UIL accounting competition to be held in mid-May. Then in June, Garcia has another trip where he has qualified to compete at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) national competition.

In the BPA Fundamental Accounting competition, students assess entry-level basic accounting principles utilizing manual procedures. Students analyze, journalize and post transactions; develop general and subsidiary ledgers; and prepare payroll and financial reports.
