MISSION — Three teenagers and one adult have been charged in the death of a Sharyland High School student. Mission police said the suspects have also been charged with two counts of aggravated assault.

Sergio Montiel, 23, who Mission police said is suspected of fatally shooting Efrain Reyna, is being held on a combined $5 million bond – $3 million on the murder charge and $1 million on each count of aggravated assault.

Rodolfo Arrieta, 17, David Alan Gonzalez, 17 and Jaime Martinez, 18 are all being held on a $1 million bond on the murder charge and $500,000 on each count of aggravated assault.

Police said the men were formally arraigned on Nov. 18.

On Nov. 16, an altercation in the Cimarron Country Club neighborhood between the group of men reportedly led to gunshots and the 17-year-old's death. Another victim, Jose Alfredo Cano, 23, who received gunshot wounds to his face, has been released from a McAllen hospital.

There is no known motive for the altercation at this time, police said. Authorities said they are still investigating the shooting and are searching for another individual that was possibly involved in the incident.

If convicted of murder, the suspects could face up to life in prison and a fine up to $10,000. The aggravated assault charges carry a maximum of 20 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
