Cristina Isabel Ramirez

Cristina Isabel Ramirez, 88, passed away April 29 at Solara Hospital in McAllen.

She is survived by her children, Arnaldo Ramirez Jr. of Mission, Sandra Borjon of Mission, Anna Sylvia Reeve of McAllen, Marco Ramirez of Mission, and Particia Villarreal of Mission; brothers, Arturo Guerra of Mission, Talo Guerra of Austin and Rolando Guerra of Mission; sister, Nidia Aument of Wichita Falls; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, former Mission Mayor Arnaldo Ramirez Sr., and a daughter, Liza Ramirez Patterson.

A funeral mass will be said at 1 p.m. today, May 2, at Our Lady of the Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission.  Interment will follow at San Jose Cemetery in Mission.  Funeral arrangements are under the care of Flores Funeral Home of Mission.

Rosa Guerra

Rosa Guerra, 62, passed away April 29 at Comfort House in McAllen. 

She is survived by her sons, Jose Guadalupe and Alfredo Guerra of Mission; daughters, Lucinda Torres and Noemi Ridlehuber of McAllen; brothers, Carlos Flores of Wyoming, Jaime Flores and Rafael Flores of Mission; a sister, Janie Cantu of Mission; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe Guerra, and a son, Filemon Guerra.    

Funeral mass will be said at 10 a.m. today, May 2, at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mission.  Interment will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Flores Funeral Home of Mission.

Guadalupe Vargas

Guadalupe Vargas, 76, passed away April 24 at Mission Regional Medical Center.

 He is survived by his children, Jorge Cervantes, Guadalupe Vargas Jr., Nelda Sandoval, Nora Sebolt, Ruth Gray, Noelia Alvarez, Roxanne Banuellos, John Vasquez, Janie Sanchez, and Mabel Sanchez; 27 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral mass was held April 26 at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Mission. Interment followed at Catholic Cemetery in Mission. Funeral services were handled by Flores Funeral Home of Mission.

Jaime Mercado

Jaime Mercado, 50, passed away April 26 at his residence  in Mission. He was preceded in death by his Father Gilberto Mercado. He was born on February 28, 1958 in Comales Tamaulipas, Mexico to Gilberto and Olivia Mercado. 

He is survived by his wife, Ramona Mercado; son, Orlando Mercado; daughters, Diana Mercado of Houston  and Thelma Esquivel of McAllen; mother, Olivia Mercado; brothers,  Harvey, Horacio, Gilberto, Ruben, and Miguel Mercado; sisters, Juanita, Nelida, Rita,  and Elsa Mercado; and two grandchildren.

The funeral was held at Virgil Wilson Memorial Chapel in Mission on April 29. Burial followed at Lord & I Cemetery in Palmview.

Guadalupe Garcia Rodriguez

Guadalupe Garcia Rodriguez, 74, passed away April 26 at Mission Regional Medical Center.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Antonia Sauceda Rodriguez of Mission; children, Maria Elia Jackson, Hector Rodriguez, Guadalupe Maldonado and Mary Rodriguez of Illinois and Rolando Rodriguez and Martha Martinez of Texas; brother, Ernesto Rodriguez of Illinois; sisters, Lala Hernandez and Elsa Garces of Ft. Worth; and 10 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren,

He was preceded in death by his parents, Florentino Garcia and San Juana Rodriguez; brother, Juan Rodriguez; and stepfather, Felipe Rodriguez.

Funeral mass was held April 29 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment followed at Garden of Angels Cemetery in Abram. Funeral services were under the care of Flores Funeral Home of Mission.

Maria Raquel Gutierrez

Maria Raquel Gutierrez, age 58, passed away April 27 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on February 2, 1950 to Apolonio and Eliza Ordaz.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Jesus Gutierrrez; children, Jose Jesus Gutierrez Jr., Maribel Sierra, Criselda Bocanegra,  Graciela Gonzalez, Joel Gutierrez, Sandra Cedillo, Dionicio Gutierrez, Elaine Gutierrez; sisters, Oralia Gonzalez, Maria de los Angeles Tijerina, San Juanita Cervantes; brothers, Urbano, Fidel,  Apolonio, and Joel Ordaz; and 25 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Guadalupe Garza and Joel Ordaz.

A service was held April 30 at Virgil Wilson Memorial Chapel in Mission. Interment followed at Lord & I Cemetery in Palmview.

Margarito De Anda

Margarito De Anda, 84, passed away April 28, at Mission Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He is survived by a son, Margarito De Anda, Jr.; brother, Miguel De Anda; sisters, Maria Gonzalez and Rebecca Esperiqueta; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Andrea Q. De Anda; father, Manuel De Anda; mother, Guadalupe Gomez De Anda; brother, Gilberto De Anda Gomez; sister, Micaela Ruiz; brother, Faustino De Anda; sister, Maria Luisa Ayala; and granddaughter.

The funeral mass was held  April 30 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission.  Interment followed at Granjeno Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were handled by Flores Funeral Home of Mission.
