Elaine Ross Midkiff, age 78, musician, teacher, and beloved mother, died August 25th, 2012 in her Georgetown, TX homeElaine was born on September 6, 1933 in North Vasselboro, Maine. She was the oldest daughter of her Methodist pastor father, Leo F. Ross, and mother Mabel Lena Ross. The family spent her early years in Maine and moved to Texas when she was 10 years old where her father was pastor of several churches in the Southwest Texas Conference.
MISSION – A funeral service for Federico Cortez will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Burial follows at Roselawn Cemetery in McAllen.
MISSION – Joan D. Morris, 85, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at her residence.
MISSION - Robert Flint, 84, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2012 at Doctor's Hospital in Edinburg.
Mr. Flint was born in Whitney Point, New York on Dec. 23, 1927 and married June Knapp on July 22, 1949 in Marathon, NY. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a Boy Scout leader for 10 years and served as president of Wagon City South.

MISSION - Maria Guerra, 53, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at her residence.
MISSION - Guadalupe Montoya, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at Mission Regional Medical Center.
MISSION - Erma C. Primeau, 85, died Aug. 18, 2012, at Mission Regional Medical Center.
MISSION – Velma Sosebee, 82, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012.
Mrs. Sosebee was born on May 3, 1930 in Mission to Zula Mae Roe Pierce and Luther Thomas Pierce. She graduated from Mission High School in 1947 and married William David Sosebee in Feb. 1948. She was a division manager for Sears in McAllen and retired with over 30 years of service. She was a member of the Mission Church of Christ and worshiped at Westgate Church of Christ after moving to Abilene.
MISSION - Margarita Galaviz, 89, died Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012, at McAllen Medical Center.
MISSION - Esther Meckel, 92, died Friday, Aug. 10, in Kyle.
Mrs. Meckel was born Dec. 3, 1919, in Jim Hogg County, the daughter of a dairy farmer, Magin Saenz and Manuela Gonzalez Saenz. Mrs. Meckel and her family had operated Meckel Nursery, a tree and landscaping business in Mission. She was a member of St. Paul’s Altar Society and St. Paul’s Catholic Church.
MISSION - Jesus Singleterry, 49, died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012 in Mission. Born in San Juan, he lived in Mission most of his life.
Mr. Singleterry is survived by a son, Jesus Singleterry Jr. of San Juan; mother, Herlinda Singleterry of McAllen; brothers, Rodolfo and Erasmo Singleterry of McAllen, Luis Singleterry Jr. of Edinburg and Luis Manuel Singleterry of Pharr; sisters, Criselda Singleterry, Belinda Singleterry of Edinburg, Esmeralda Aguilar of McAllen and Imelda Singleterry of Oklahoma.
