MISSION - Norbert F. Mueller, 90, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at McAllen Medical Center.
MISSION - Gary Olsen, 74, passed away on Thursday May 1, 2014, at his home in Mission.
ALTON - Juan Garcia, 65, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at his home in Alton.
Fr. James Edward Pfeifer, OMI, son of Steve and Marie Louisa, “Fr. Jim”, priest of Jesus Christ and Oblate of Mary Immaculate, a real man’s man and a real Priest’s priest, came gently, quietly and “plumb wore out” to the end of the trail, finishing the long journey and great adventure of his life, dying at the old Guadalupe Church, which he just finished working so hard and enthusiastically to repair and expand. He’s been “almost home” for the last few months.
He was preceded in death by Frances L. Trcalek, Stephen Pfeifer, Ronald T. Pfeifer, Charles J. Pfeifer, Catherine R. Haden and his dog, Paco, who were already waiting with the porch light on to welcome him home.
MISSION - Jean Brown, 78, passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at Mission Regional Medical Center.
MISSION – A funeral service for Alberto Lopez will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.
MISSION – A funeral service for Maria Munguia will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2014, at 10 a.m. at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
MISSION — On April 27th, 2014, Fernando “Zapata” Rivera, Jr., devout Roman Catholic, beloved husband, father, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, friend, and farmer, answered God’s call. The Lord saw that Fernando was ailing, and cure was not to be. He put His arms around him and whispered, “Come home with me, my son.”
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dolores; sons, Fernando III and Gerardo Antonio Rivera; brothers, Arturo, Jesus M., Jose Omar and Francisco Rivera; sisters, Teresa Recio, Maria Antonia Rivera, EdD., Maria Lourdes Mayer, Amelia Rivera Garza, Maria Elena and Carmen Rivera.
Fernando was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Maximina Rivera; baby brother, Cruz; grandmothers, Felipa F. Sanchez and Teresa M. Rivera; his beloved great aunt, Jesusa “Chucha”; great uncle, Juan Sanchez; and aunt, Guadalupe S. Izaguirre.
