OBIT-Maria Magallan Silva

GRANJENO - Maria Magallan Silva, 86, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in McAllen. She was born on September 12, 1925, in Granjeno where she was a lifelong resident.

Survivors include her daughters, Rosa Belia Ojeda, Idalia Segura and Sandra Sims; son, Trinidad Silva; brothers, Alberto Magallan, Gilberto Magallan and Miguel Magallan; sisters, Enidia Villalon and Molly Moreno; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

OBIT-Carmen Delgado

MISSION - Carmen Delgado, 89, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at Life Care Hospital of South Texas in McAllen. She was born to Juan Lopez and Maria Antonia Martinez on January 16, 1923 in Guanajuato, Mexico.

Survivors include children, Micaela Cantu, Raquel Vasquez, Margarita Rodriguez, Maria Antonia Garza, Carmen Garza, Martha Delgado, Angel Delgado, Pedro Delgado, Jaime Delgado and Juan Antonio Delgado; and 29 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

OBIT-Lt. Col. Edward J. Sandy

Lt. Col. Edward J. Sandy passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012. Born in Lake Forest IL, 1916, Lt. Col. Sandy was the navigator aboard a B-29b based in Guam in WWII. He flew 16 missions and was awarded the Air Medal. He later founded and operated Commercial Scale Co Inc. of Springfield, Mass. While serving in the Air Force Reserves, he became the Liaison Coordinator in New England for the Air Force Academy admissions. He was an accomplished artist and past president of the Upper Valley Art League.

OBIT-Francisco Esqueda

MISSION/NEW BRAUNFELS – Francisco "Frank" Esqueda, 75, passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, in Rio Grande City. He was born to Pablo and Teresa Esqueda on April, 10, 1937.

After being honorably discharged from the military, Mr. Esqueda returned to his roots in Mission, where he met his future wife, Carolina Gallegos. He lived in Chicago for many years before returning to the Mission area. They lived in New Braunfels after retirement.
