OBIT-Miguel "Mike" Angel Barrera

MISSION - Miguel "Mike" Angel Barrera, 50, born September 15, 1961, passed away June 24, 2012. He was the son of Minerva Barrera of Alton and Juan Barrera of McAllen.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Juan Jose Barrera and his grandparents Antonio Rodriguez, Anita Trevino Rodriguez, Pablo Barrera and Concepcion Ybarra de Barrera.

OBIT-Edelmira Bourbois

MISSION - Edelmira Bourbois, 75, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012 at her residence in Mission. She was born to Pablo Flores and Aurora Gracia on September 29, 1936 in Diaz Ordaz.

She is survived by her loving husband, Agustine R. Bourbois and children, Aurora (Manuel) Balderas, Belen Tello, both of Mission and Ulysses (Ester) Flores of San Antonio; siblings, Luz (Adela) Flores of Mission and Celia Mendiola of McAllen; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A viewing is being held today until 9 p.m. with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Virgil Wilson Memorial Chapel in Mission. A chapel service will be held Friday, June 29, at 10 a.m. at Virgil Wilson Memorial Chapel in Mission. Interment will follow at Garden of Angels Cemetery in Abram. OBIT-Geneva Hartford Huston Taylor

McALLEN - Geneva Hartford Huston Taylor, 80, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Aurora House in Weslaco.

Mrs. Taylor was born on September 8, 1931, to Eunice Hartford and Allen Hartford of Mission. She retired from McAllen ISD in 1993 after 25 years of service. Following her retirement she was a member of La Revista Book Club, Retired Teacher of McAllen, International Museum of Art and Science, and the Arroyo Group.

OBIT-Tilmon Eugene Sharp

MISSION – Tilmon Eugene “T.E.” Sharp, 76, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.

Mr. Sharp retired from Occidental Petroleum after a lifetime in the oilfield. As a horseman, he was a life member and past captain of the Hidalgo County Sheriff Posse as well as co-founder of the Hidalgo County Team Penning Association.

MISSION – Antonio Lopez, 92, passed away June 23, 2012 at The Village Care Center McAllen.

He is survived by his children Maria Perales, Joe Lopez, Frank Lopez, Vicente Lopez, Juan Lopez, Guadalupe Lopez and Leticia Lopez; and 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, June 27, at 2 p.m. at Garden of Angels Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home of Mission.

MISSION - Maria Benavidez, 57, died Saturday, June 23, 2012, at her Mission residence. A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial follows at the Catholic Cemetery in Mission.

   

OBIT-Julio Cesar Lacayo Huesca

MISSION - Julio Cesar Lacayo Huesca, 20, passed away Sunday, June 24, 2012. He was born July 4, 1991.

Survivors include his father, Ronaldo Lacayo; mother, Lyzette Huesca-Lacayo; sisters, Paulina and Priscilla; paternal grandparents, Benjamin, Graciela and Yolanda; maternal grandparents, Dr. Juan Huesca Perez and Alicia.

Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, with a rosary at 7 p.m. at Rivera Funeral Home in McAllen. The funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen. Cremation will follow.

   

OBIT-Francisco Hernandez

MISSION - Francisco "Chico" Hernandez, 85, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012, at Mission Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Hernandez was a longtime employee of the Mission CISD. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II and was stationed in Alaska.

Survivors include his children Mario Hernandez, Diana Hernandez, San Juanita Murillo, Leticia Garcia, Adriana Garcia, Elia Mendoza, Veronica Davis, Francisco Hernandez Jr., Gilda Solis; a brother, Carlos Hernandez; and 24 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death was his wife of 62 years, Elva Hernandez, and his parents, Pedro and Maria Hernandez.

The funeral mass will be held Tuesday, June 26, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery.
