MISSION - Robert Schonfelder, 87, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at his residence in Mission.
MISSION - Visitation for Felicitas Sosa will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
MISSION – A graveside service for Norma Linda Ayala will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at 9 a.m. at Valley Memorial Gardens.
MERCED, Calif./MISSION - Tomas Cavazos Jr., 70, died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in Merced, California.
MISSION - Gonzalo Llamas, 65, died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at his Mission residence. The funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 8, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial will follow at La Piedad Cemetery in McAllen.
Maria Nidia Guerra Aument, 81, of Wichita Falls, Texas died there on Friday, June 1, 2012.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission, Texas. Graveside services will be scheduled for Sacred Heart Cemetery in Wichita Falls.
MISSION - Eliseo “Papo” Pompa Sr., 86, passed away Thursday May 31, 2012.
Mr. Pompa was born September 1, 1925 to Santiago and Antonia Pompa. He graduated from Mission High School and served his country in the US Navy and was a WW II veteran.
MISSION – Christine Louise Howells Reynolds, 63, passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012.
Mrs. Reynolds was born on February 13, 1949 to Richard Kenneth Howells and Thais Louise Hardwick Howells in Pocatello, Idaho.
Mrs. Reynolds grew up in Boise, Idaho where she graduated from Borah High School in 1967. She continued her education at Idaho State University in Pocatello, obtaining her bachelor’s degree in 1971. She earned her master’s from the University of Arizona in 1995.
After graduating from Idaho State University she started her library career at the Pocatello Public Library. Then, she became the library director of the American Falls (Idaho) Public Library. Later, she became the head reference librarian for Marshall Public Library in Pocatello.
She married Sydney Ellis in 1970 and had two daughters. They later divorced. She met and married Darrial Reynolds in 1991.
In 2000, Christine and Darrial became Texans when he accepted a professor position at South Texas College. She became the head reference librarian for the McAllen Public Library and retired as the assistant director in 2011.
She is survived by her husband, Darrial Reynolds; children, Michelle Hyldahl of Gig Harbor, Wash. and Dawn Schiers of Eppstien, Germany; siblings, Marci Howells of Tacoma, Wash., Naida Webb of Dover, Del. and David Howells of Caldwell, Idaho; and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;.
She was predeceased by her mother, father and grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, she requested that memorials be donated to the McAllen Public Library or library or a charity of one’s choosing.
