MISSION – A funeral mass for Heron Hinojosa was held Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at San Juan Diego Catholic Church in McAllen. Burial followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
ALTON - Ignacio Guzman, 66, died Monday, Oct. 17, 2011, at his Alton residence.
Funeral Mass for Ignacio Guzman will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Alton. Interment follows at Valley Memorial Gardens in McAllen.
PALMVIEW/EDINBURG - Hilda Guerra Bazan, 39, left to be with the Lord on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Mission Regional Medical Center. She was born to Amando Guerra Sr. and Oralia Guerra on December 8, 1971 in Edinburg.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Victor Bazan Sr.; children, Victor Bazan Jr., Enrique Leonel Bazan, and Rose Marie Bazan; parents, Amando Guerra Sr. and Oralia Guerra; and brother, Amando Guerra Jr.
She was a wonderful mother, wife and friend to all who knew her. She filled our lives with joy and with her smile and kind loving hearts. She will live in our hearts forever.
The funeral mass will be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 1:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Lord & I Cemetery in Palmview.
MISSION - Gerardo Barbosa Jr., 18, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2011 at McAllen Medical Center. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.

PENITAS - Aguedita Farias, 90, died on Friday, October 14, 2011, at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen.
PENITAS - Visitation for Aguedita Farias will be held Monday, October 17, 2011, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Memorial Funeral Home in Edinburg. Graveside service will follow at Penitas Cemetery.

Loretta Walsh, RN, MSN, M.Ed, who served Mission and McAllen as a nurse for over 54 years, passed away Thursday, October 13 evening at Mission Regional Medical Center.
She worked in Mission Hospital for 35 years as a surgical nurse, and in orthopedics, medical/surgical pediatrics, and emergency care. When the Mission Hospital was built in 1951 she oversaw setting up and equipping the surgical suite. She worked at the McAllen Independent School District as staff nurse for special education students, where she was instrumental in providing a safe, nurturing environment in which students with special medical needs could thrive and remain productively engaged with learning.
MISSION - Robert Griffith Brown, 70, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2011.
Born April 29, 1941, in Binghamton, New York to Raymond and Helen Griffith Brown, he resided in Houston for many years and was employed with Dixie Chemical Co., Inc. He graduated with a doctorate in 1973 from Clarkson University.
MISSION - Jesus "Chuy" Garza Jr., 91, passed away on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at his residence in Mission.
Garza was born and raised in Mission, and following his graduation, he entered the military where he served in Cairo, Egypt during WWII. After his military service, he was employed by Barrera Supply Company in Mission.
MISSION - Wade Welch, 53, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011.
Mr. Welch Wade was born on July 5, 1958 in McAllen. He graduated from PSJA High School and then graduated from Lubbock Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in business.
MISSION - Remigio Escobar, 91, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2011 in Mission. A funeral service was held Oct. 10 at Ceballos Funeral Home in McAllen. Burial followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.
