MISSION – Emilio Saenz, 77, passed away on September 5, 2011, at Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission.

He was an avid gardener, and enjoyed making plants grow.  He was a music lover, and could be found listening to music on the internet.  He taught his family the value of hard work and always provided for his family.

Mr. Saenz was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, Basilio and Maria del Refugio Saenz; mother-in-law, Martina Martinez; and daughter-in-law, Fidela Saenz.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Belen Saenz of Mission; children, Robert (Leonor) Saenz of Pearland, Edward Saenz of Edinburg, Leti (Andres) Rangel of Mission, Juan de Dios (Rose) Saenz of Sterling, Illinois, and Rosalinda (Keith) Kettelson of Plainfield, IL; and 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 8, from 3 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service at Ric Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Mission.  A funeral service will be held there on Friday, September 9, 2011, at 10 a.m.  Pastor Andres Rangel, his son-in-law, will officiate.  Burial follows at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
