Bob Clinton Yancy, 73, of Sulphur Springs, passed away on Friday, September 16, 2011.
Mr. Yancy was born in Lufkin on November 12, 1937, the son of Hobson and Vennie Yancy. He graduated from McAllen High School in May 1956 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Baylor University in 1960. He was a lifelong fan of Baylor and his beloved Baylor Bears.
He received an Honorable Discharge from the United States Army in September 1962.
A businessman for many years, he owned "Yancy’s," a gift shop in Mission, and was a home builder in the Rio Grande Valley as owner of Rugged Construction. After moving to Austin, he became assistant superintendent of the Del Valle ISD for many years.
Mr. Yancy was a member of Rotary International for over 30 years and was honored to be named a Paul Harris Fellow.
He is survived by his children, Bobby Yancy and wife Madeline of Sulphur Springs, Diana McMahon and husband Michael of White Oak, and Justin Yancy and wife Christa of Austin; siblings, Doris Rose Hinson of Lufkin and Don Yancy and his wife Peggy of McAllen; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Austin.
