Rose Marie Archibald, 74, passed on Thursday, September 29, from complications of Alzheimer's. She was born in Mission on Feb. 14, 1937 to Dario and Feliciana Guerra and had lived in San Jacinto, California since 1994.
Mrs. Archibald graduated from the University of Texas and received her master's from Point Loma University. She was a teacher for 30 years, the last 22 years before retirement was spent with the Mountain View School District in El Monte, CA.
She loved people and liked to entertain. She had a smile that was infectious and could light up a room. She had visited all 50 states and a dozen countries in Europe and North and South America.
She is survived by her husband, James M. Archibald; sons, Mark (Diane) Schlichting and Thomas Schlichting; daughter, Laura (Rick) Stanford; stepson, James (Linda) Archibald; stepdaughters, Jenny (Marvin) Wetovsky, Carrie (Eric) Rowland, Colleen (David) Walsh and Linda Tibi; sisters, Gloria Gresenz, Olga de Leon and Alicia Martin; brother, Dario Guerra; and 18 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 11 a.m. at Community Christian Church, 41762 E. Stetson Ave., Hemet, CA. A reception will follow at the church.
Donations may be made in her memory to the Alzheimer's Disease Research Association.
