MISSION - Wade Welch, 53, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011.
Mr. Welch Wade was born on July 5, 1958 in McAllen. He graduated from PSJA High School and then graduated from Lubbock Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in business.
While at LCU, he met his wife, Mary Nell. After graduation they were married and Mr. Welch went to work for Diamond Shamrock Refining and Marketing Company. He worked in Denver and Oklahoma City before returning to the Valley to work for the family business, Valley Shamrock, Inc. After selling Valley Shamrock in 2000 he opened Fast Break Car Wash in Edinburg and Mission.
Mr. Welch served as an elder at the Pharr Church of Christ where he also sang and taught. He also served on the board of the Southwest Car Wash Association and was a past member of the McAllen Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Mary Nell of Mission; sons, Trey Malcolm Wade Welch III of Lubbock and Aaron Tyler Welch of Mission; mother, Joy Welch of Mission; sisters, Rosanne and Kent Shuttlesworth of Jacksonville, and Jere Welch of Abilene; and a grandson.
Preceding him in death were his father, Malcolm Wade Welch Sr., and his brother, James Bennett Welch.
The funeral service was held Oct. 10 at the Pharr Church of Christ. Burial followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.
Pallbearers were Kent Shuttlesworth, Jason Shuttlesworth, Ted Thornton, Clint Welch, Ernie Skloss and Kyle Brashear.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pharr Church of Christ Missions Program, 2013 Spring Glen, Mission, TX 78572 or the charity of one’s choice.
