OBIT: Richard G. Iruegas

MISSION - Ricardo G. Iruegas, 51, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011.

Iruegas was born in Harlingen on Sept. 10, 1960. He graduated from Harlingen High School and received a degree from UTB in Brownsville. He married Tita on Dec. 28, 1991. He was a coach in the Harlingen School District, La Feria ISD, Rio Hondo ISD, and was currently coaching at Sharyland ISD. He played football for the Harlingen Cardinals in high school.

He is survived by his wife, Jacinta I. "Tita" Iruegas; daughters, Gabriela Anne Iruegas and Erika Olivia Iruegas; and mother, Olivia Cantu.

A funeral Mass was held Oct. 13 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Interment followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Mission.

Pallbearers were Coach Fred Sanchez, Alberto Garcia, Rolando Muniz, Juan D. Salazar, Mateo Alvarez, Coach Rudy Gonzalez, Coach Jo Alex Leal and Coach Ron Adame. Honorary pallbearers were Rolando Garcia, Pedro J. Salazar and Coach Bobby Olvera.
