MISSION - Jesus "Chuy" Garza Jr., 91, passed away on Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, at his residence in Mission.

Garza was born and raised in Mission, and following his graduation, he entered the military where he served in Cairo, Egypt during WWII. After his military service, he was employed by Barrera Supply Company in Mission.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Aurora G. Garza of Mission; children, Robert D. Garza of San Antonio, Diana Newton of Mission, Sylvia Blades of Terrell; brother, Jose Garza of Edcouch; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Francisca Garza Sr.; brothers, Carlos and Reynaldo Garza; anda sister, Aurora G. Flores.

A funeral Mass was held Oct. 13 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission. Burial followed at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in McAllen.

Mr. Garza's grandsons served as pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggested memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, P.O. Box 1047, Mission, Texas 78573.
