MISSION - Pastor Eliud Bocanegra, 63 entered the gates of heaven to be with his Savior early in the morning on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Mission Regional Medical Center.
He was a pastor for over 35 years in Madero and McAllen, and was the pastor at Iglesia Evangelica Cristiana in McAllen. He was born in Galeana, NL. Mexico.
Pastor Bocanegra was educated in Mexico and went on to higher education to further his ministry in Oskaloosa, Iowa at Vennard College. He also attended Pan American University, and received his associates degree in heating and cooling from South Texas College. He worked at Levi's Strauss for 25 years, and most recently was a permanent substitute teacher at Raquel Cavazos Elementary in Mission.
He is survived by his wife, Carolina Soto Bocanegra; daughter, Elisabeth Ramirez; son-in-law; Adan Ramirez; granddaughter, Lina Izel Ramirez; parents, Fidel and Irene Bocanegra; and siblings, Alicia, Marta, Eva, Maria Magdalena, Ester, Noehmi, Joel, Juan, and Juan II, all from Saltillo, Mexico.
Services will be held Thursday and Friday, Oct. 20- 21, from 7-9 p.m. at Iglesia Evangelica Cristiana at 21st and Jackson Avenue in McAllen. Funeral will take place on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Burial follows at Valley Memorial Gardens.
