MISSION - Eduardo S. Marroquin, 89, born Feb. 18, 1922 in Montemorelos, N.L. Mexico.
The Marroquin family moved to Seguin in 1929, and in 1939, they came to Mission. Eduardo then went to Mexico to get a formal education. He returned to Mission during 1977. He was a gifted artist and some of his drawings and paintings were exhibited in the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City. He wrote many stories which were featured in newspapers. Two of his teleplays were shown in public TV stations all over Mexico.
Mr. Marroquin was a federal employee in Mexico City, D.F. He was the director of the English speaking department of the "Cable" network, which is the Western Union of Mexico and served in that capacity until his retirement. Here in Mission he volunteered many hours of work at the Mission Housing Authority.
He is survived by his brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Geronimo (Olga) Marroquin from Mesquite, Mr. and Mrs. Salomon (Blanca) Marroquin from Mission, and his beloved sister-in-law, Rafaela V. Marroquin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Salomon and Andreita Marroquin, and his brother, David Marroquin.
Services were held Nov. 25 at Flores Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Mission. Rev. Dr. Robert Lopez, pastor at El Mesias United Methodist Church in Mission, officiated.
