MISSION – Carney C. Olson, age 90, passed away on Dec. 8, 2011 at Comfort House in McAllen.
Mr. Olson was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and graduated from Roosevelt High School. He married Helen on Dec. 28, 1942 and served with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific from 1942-1945. He became a railroad engineer with the Milwaukee Railroad upon his return from WW II. He moved to Texas full time in 1989 and remained a resident of Aladdin Villas since that time. He enjoyed woodcarving, gold and visiting with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Burnette; daughters, Lynn (Richard) and Becky (Brian); grandchildren, Chuck, Nicole and Brennan; great-grandchildren Chris and Kyllista; and great-great-grandchildren, Kyliegh and Killian; step-children, Keith, Beverly and Larry; and eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Sperbeck in 1973.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1105 W. Fern Ave., McAllen. Memorials may be given to Comfort House or Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
