LA JOYA - Manuel Gonzalez, 89, passed away Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011 at Mission Regional Medical Center. He was born to Jose Angel Gonzalez Sr. and Nasaria Silva on Nov. 23, 1922.
Survivors include his wife, Carolina Gonzalez of La Joya; children, Raul Rene Gonzalez of La Joya, Jose Luis Gonzalez of Weslaco, Mario Alberto Gonzalez of Mission, Manuel Gonzalez Jr. of Palmview, and Norma Linda Bravo of Chicago, IL; siblings, Jose Angel Gonzalez Jr. of Miami, Florida and Socorro Garza of La Joya; and 14 grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Jose Angel Gonzalez and Nasaria Gonzalez Silva; brother, Raul Gonzalez; and sisters, Lydia Cochran and Marcela de la Garza.
A funeral Mass was held Dec. 21 at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in La Joya. Interment followed at La Joya City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Raul Gonzalez, Jose Luis Gonzalez, Mario Alberto Gonzalez, Manuel Gonzalez Jr., Raul Gonzalez Jr., Fernando Garza and Ricardo Garza.
