Juanita D. Casas, age 91, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at her residence in Mission.
She was born on May 24, 1920 to Victor and Adela Diaz. On May 29, 1944 she was united in marriage to Enrique Casas at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where they remained members. She volunteered for many years with the Mission Band Boosters and served as secretary/treasurer to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School while her children attended the school.
She is survived by her daughters, Diana Casas, Margarita Cecil, Juanita Casas, and Adela Rogan; sons, Enrique Casas, Jr. and Ricardo Casas; brother, Antonio Diaz of Simi Valley, CA; sisters, Minerva Alaniz and Hilda Pena of Mission, Elma Wester of Tampa, FL, Thelma Hogan of Breezy Point, NY and Ana Hofstetter of Lake Havasu City, AZ.; and five grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband of 49 years; her parents; brothers, Gilberto and Victor Diaz Jr.; and sisters, Ema Garcia, Beatriz Porter, Mary Hennessey and Graciela Diaz.
A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Mission on Monday, January 16, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requested that donations be made to the Our Lady of Guadalupe building fund.
